Anton Chacon Spring Accomplishments: Bigfoot Champion, Classic Champion, State Champion, Freestyle State Champion, Greco-Roman State Champion

and Reno World Champion

Travis Wittlake
April 6 - April 13

Two-time Oregon state champion Travis Wittlake (Team Bucs) was virtually untouchable this weekend as he posted three technical falls and one fall en route to the 160-pound title. He topped Oszkar Kasch (Region Wrestling Academy), 18-3, in the first place match.

Last season Wittlake won the first two legs of the USAW Triple Crown by securing a Cadet Greco-Roman championship in Fargo, N.D. in addition to his Cadet Folkstyle Nationals title. He wound up in third place in the Cadet Freestyle Nationals to narrowly miss out on the Triple Crown.

Joey Coste
March 27 - April 2

Joe wrestled his freshman year under Mike Delaney at Westview High School.  Delaney places a huge emphasis on takedowns, and that is where Joey feels most comfortable, so Delaney’s coaching was a perfect fit for Joey’s style.

Delaney took Westview to a lot of tournaments: Pac Coast, Rose City, Snohomish, Hoodriver, Lebanon, 5 Counties, Regionals, State. Joe had a lot of success as a freshman, winning every tournament he entered, with the exception of 5 Counties, down in Southern California.  He did make it to the finals, but lost to Robert Garcia in the championship match.

Joe has watched the state tournament for 10 years, so he was quite excited to finally get his chance to compete.

Preparing for the state tournament means TOUGH-CLOSE 2 point matches, Tough drilling partners, and a demanding coaching staff…Coach  Delaney, and partners, Nick Capetillo and David Escobar deserve a ton of credit.

Joey personally wants to thank…Collin Purinton, Nate Johnson, Brawley & Legend Lamer, Jaiven Rodriguez, Payton Bell, Braxton Sue, and Christian & Marques Chan…that is quite a lineup of drilling partners…none of his success this year would have been possible without this list of wrestlers.
